Literature groups-Readers response
We read the article "The Face of Freedom" in National Geographic Explorer. It was about the statue of liberty and what it stands for. June 17, 1885 it arrived in New York harbor. The statue of liberty opened in October of 1886 the next year. She is made of copper as thick as 2 pennies. She holds in her left hand a tablet with a date on it. the date is July 4, 1776. That is the birthday of the United States. In her right hand she holds a flame. It is the light of freedom. She wears a big crown that has seven rays. Those rays stand for liberty shining on the seven continents. Below her feet is a broken chain. It shows that we are free. When 911 happened she comforted the people of the United States.
That has inspired me to do more research on 911.
